Conditioned by the Call: Strength Built in the Wait

From Rock Bottom to Mission Ready — How the Wilderness Became My Training Ground

Thank you for tapping into The Wait Room. Before you dive into one of the most intimate adventures you've ever gone on, I'd like for you to get to know your Captain for this journey, Me.

Drink up!

For the purposes of building a strong community, I'd like to set the stage and give you the briefing report for what you're about to embark on.

The army we are building has God as our Commander in Chief, Jesus the Army General, and the Holy Spirit sits as Chief of Staff. In the Wait Room, I will be your Captain for this journey. My job is to take the lead in carrying out the strategy and act on the directives God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have trusted me with to help you prepare for your next mission: Your Calling.

I will be the one who organizes, motivates, and helps disciple the community in The Wait Room, leading you all to embark on your mission. With the direction of the Holy Spirit, I will be ensuring that I give you all the resources to be positioned in alignment with God’s will and know how to listen for his plan in your life. I stand on the intersection of divine wisdom, action, and endurance, guiding others through the process of transformation.

Who is Jennifer Alexa? Why The Wait Room?

If I’m being honest, this is one of those moments I saw myself living but had no clue how it would happen. I got saved when I was 14, but it wasn’t until I was 24 — divorced, unemployed, and smack dab in the middle of a global pandemic — that I truly understood what it meant to have a relationship with Jesus. I know, it sounds like a whole season of "what the heck is happening?" But somehow, in the middle of all the chaos, God met me exactly where I was. He didn’t just show up — He showed off, or as the kids are saying "He ate... and left no crumbs". He got me my dream job (don’t ask me how, because I had no idea either... I was totally under-qualified), helped me buy my condo, and started to heal the deepest, darkest parts of me, all while the world was turned upside down. The grace and love He showed me is what keeps me going.

I’m a Dominican-born, American-raised woman, with a heart that has always been pulled by the duality of life. I was born to a Army Sargent and a Beautician. I’ve been to several countries, and in every one of them, I’ve learned that humans are multifaceted. We carry beauty and struggle in equal measure. And that’s okay. I love holding space for those complexities — it’s something I’ve always been passionate about. Life isn’t just black or white; it’s the shades in between that make us who we are.

Now, if you know me at all, you know I’ve got a soft spot for "The Lion King" and "Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron". There’s something about the raw journey of Simba, and the untamed freedom of Spirit, that speaks to my soul. Both stories are about finding yourself in the midst of hardship, rising above the pressure, and knowing that you’re called to more than just survival. That’s what I believe about life — we’re not just here to get through it. We’re here to "thrive", to become who we were always meant to be, even when things feel impossible.

Remember Who You Are!

If I’m real with you, I didn’t get here overnight. It took a lot of messy moments, heartache, and prayers that felt like they weren’t being heard. But if there’s one thing I know, it’s that God is never not working, even when we can’t see it. I’m living proof of that. So, welcome to The Wait Room. This space is for those of you who are in the middle of your own waiting season — and trust me, I know how heavy that can feel. It’s not about “doing it right,” it’s about trusting that in the waiting, you’re being conditioned for something greater.

And just like Simba, or Spirit, or any of us really — we all have a calling, a purpose, and a destiny that is far beyond the weight of today.

Gracias for being here, for showing up with me in this space.

Let’s walk this journey together!
